Project Newborn Nigeria: Dare 2 Care International and Young Mothers Empowerment Network (YouMEN) are working together to provide 100 newborn kits and health education around reproductive health programming to young mothers and their babies in Nigeria, Africa.

At Dare 2 Care International, we believe that all children deserve an equal opportunity in life and that mothers are best qualified to raise their children. We also know that people are experts in their own lives and in their own communities and that is why we partner with YouMen (Young Mother Empowerment Network) to encourage self empowerment in women in Nigeria, Africa.

Dare 2 Care International and Young Mothers Empowerment Network (YouMEN) are working together to provide newborn kits and reproductive health programming to young mothers and their babies in Nigeria. Together,we are positively impacting the lives of teenage mothers and their babies in Lagos, Nigeria.

Young Mothers are often balancing various aspects of their lives and are challenged by becoming a parent. We work together with our global partners to ensure that adolescent parents receive the care and adequate social and emotional support that is essential to the parent and the baby’s future.
100 newborn kits containing essentials for the care of a newborn including wipes, diapers, hand-sewed clothes, socks, cap, towel, bath essentials, etc were all purchased, bagged and distributed as gifts to new and expecting moms during an educational women’s health program in Nigeria.

President and Founder of Young Mother Empowerment Network (YouMEN), Taiwo Ayenuro describes the need for young mothers in Nigeria as
“Due to cultural sentiments and stigma regarding unwanted teenage pregnancy in Nigeria, young girls have incomplete education, reduced job opportunities and poor socio-economic status resulting in increased poverty, malnourished children, and maternal and infant mortality. Youmen NGO has been supporting victims of teenage pregnancy to have a safe and stressfree maternal experience by providing them sexual health education, free maternity and baby wears, and other women empowerment programs so that they can independently cater for their living expenses.”
